Job Description:

Year-around waterfront marina resort restaurant searching for Restaurant General Manager with the possibility of ownership opportunity immediately or on an earn-in basis. Existing GM is retiring. This new and growing resort serves the Chicago market with vacation homes on a year-around basis, boaters on a seasonal basis, and many locals in the beautiful historic river town of Ottawa, Illinois. Passion for food a must, and drive for true hospitality for many customers in an intimate and friendly environment. The Red Dog Grill is the heart of the resort, and it must remain that special place in the resort and the local community.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Supervises and coordinates activities of the restaurant employees to ensure that the restaurant is running efficiently and profitably.
- Directly supervises various employees on a daily basis in all departments.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Ensures the hospitality of the guest.
- Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training applicants/employees.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work.
- Appraises good performance.
- Disciplines poor performance.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- 3 to 7 years progressive management experience in a full service restaurant.
- Strong guest service and leadership skills.
- Strong coaching skills and team building experience.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work load in a deadline-driven, demanding environment.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive with strong attention to detail.
- Must have food and beverage knowledge.
- Must be capable of achieving proper financial ratios and work with resort management on monthly financial reporting and achieving financial goals.
- Proficient computer skills including POS, Inventory and Cost Control applications.
- A 4 year college degree is highly desirable, but an Associate’s Degree in a related field is acceptable.

Qualifications:

- Must have 3-4 years' experience.
- Must have a strong leadership background, excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must have a passion for hospitality and understand what it means to deliver a great guest experience.
- Prior experience in a hospitality focused major city is a plus.
- Must be able to schedule, direct, coordinate and implement policy and procedures, handle guest issues.
- Must be able to motivate staff and maintain a positive work environment.

Job Requirements:

- Candidate must have high quality restaurant management experience for at least 2 years.
- Must be very capable at managing staff of servers, bar staff, and kitchen staff at varying levels of staffing throughout the year (seasonal business levels).
- Must be willing to cater to locals, boaters, and cottage owners and guests with meaningful and heartfelt hospitality attitude.
- Attention to financial performance and industry benchmarks a must.
- This candidate must be willing to work long hours, but the customer satisfaction and ability to create in a very special setting is a wonderful opportunity.
- College degree preferred but Associate's Degree acceptable.
