Looking for a challenge? Our Show Systems Technicians maintain the most technologically advanced ride systems and parkwide audio/video systems in the world. Problem solving, superior technical skills, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Show Systems Technicians.Show Systems Technicians at Universal Orlando are responsible for:
- Inspecting and performing preventive and corrective maintenance of all elements of Show Systems site wide. This includes audio, video, film projection, lasers, show lighting, and video surveillance.
- Diagnosing system failures and providing immediate and long term corrective action, which involves researching defective items/parts. This includes logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals while using a systematic approach.
- Performing modifications or additions to the audio, video, and/or laser systems based on guest or Universal Orlando Engineering Department requests.
- Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
To perform the role of a Show Systems Technician successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
- High school degree or GED is required. Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred.
- Three to five years live sound/theater/sound reinforcement maintenance experience with a well-known organization for A/V technicians required.
- Three to five years military, corporate and/or manufacturer experience in Argon/Krypton Laser Maintenance and Operations for Laser Technicians required.
- Three to five years theatrical/cinema projection maintenance and image specialty experience for film technicians required.
- Five to seven years strong electronics work history for a well-known manufacturer or authorized service center preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License is required to operate company vehicles.
- Must have own tools (minimum requirement list is provided).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of the Metric system and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Show Systems Technician job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently required to stand, talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, taste or smell.
- The individual must regularly lift 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close Vision; Color Vision; Peripheral Vision; Depth Perception; Ability to Adjust Focus.
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Show Systems Technician job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; wet, humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; vibration.
- While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is: Loud Noise.
