Do you have technical leadership experience in live shows and entertainment projects? Our Rigging/Staging Specialists work on the most technologically advanced live shows in the world. Technical expertise in rigging, audio, lighting, and video are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Rigging/Staging Specialists.

Rigging/Staging Specialists at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Planning, prepping, installing, and executing Entertainment projects as well as assigned events. 
  • Troubleshooting system problems and if necessary, making repairs in real time during a rehearsal or show.
  • Overseeing technicians in an assigned area.
  • Actively supporting and enforcing company safety guidelines and programs and reporting non-compliance. Monitoring team member productivity and work habits. Directing work startup and stoppage and ensuring proper breaks. 
  • Ensuring proper completion of documentation.
  • Monitoring the care, condition, use and storage of tools, equipment and other UO property.
  • Effectively communicating and coordinating with other departments and disciplines as needed, both within and outside of Entertainment Production.
  • Maintaining material inventories. Fixing, repairing, and/or documenting any broken element of in-house show systems gear on a daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual basis.
  • Providing mentoring and continued field training for specified field technicians as assigned.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.



To perform the role of a Rigging/Staging Specialist successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
  • High school degree or GED required. Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school is preferred in area of expertise.
  • Five to seven years experience working in the areas of: Rigging, Staging, Audio, Lighting.  Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity during a live show preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must frequently work in high places on catwalks and/or with PPE.  
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.  
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet navigation, document and proposal creation, emergency repair, analytical and conceptual thinking, planning and scheduling, current knowledge of industry trends, effective communication skills, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include:  Close Vision; Distance Vision; Color Vision; Peripheral Vision; Depth Perception; Ability to Adjust Focus.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Rigging/Staging Specialist job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather); and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and extreme heat (non-weather).  
  • While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is: Very Loud Noise.
