It’s all in the details! Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work?  Imagine being a Seamstress (Wardrobe) at Universal Orlando. Seamstresses (Wardrobe) are responsible for general alterations and repairs on costume pieces.

Seamstresses (Wardrobe) at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Performing general alterations and repairs on uniforms used in all venues.
  • Creating basic costume pieces (i.e. skirts, bandanas) using existing patterns for existing venues and new projects.
  • Assisting in fitting of new and existing performers as it relates to making alteration or uniform modifications.
  • Assisting the Wardrobe Attendant with wardrobe issues.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.



To perform the role of a Seamstress (Wardrobe) successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
  • High school degree or GED and Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working on industrial sewing machines, walking foot machines, sergers and pressing equipment, using patterns to cut fabric, sewing/construction of clothing, hand stitching and alterations required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Seamstress (Wardrobe) job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, handles, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and talk or hear; and frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.    
  • The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
