Our Technical Booth Operators - Parade operate and execute the most technologically advanced live shows in the world via advanced show controls. Problem solving, superior technical skills, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Technical Booth Operators – Parade.

Technical Booth Operators - Parade at Universal Orlando are responsible for: 

  • Operating the Technical Booth within an assigned venue or event including but not limited to the operation of lighting and audio in a live show situation using systems such as Medialon, Ovation, Alcorn McBride and others.
  • Installation and maintenance of lighting, audio, video, ground rigging, and staging set up.
  • Assisting in maintaining shows or event specific inventory of all technical equipment & supplies.
  • Strictly adhering to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.



To perform the role of a Technical Booth Operator - Parade successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
  • High school degree or GED required.  Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred.
  • A valid Florida state driver license is required to drive company vehicles.
  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is required.
  • 1-3 years experience using advanced control systems, likely within the theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience on advanced show control systems such as Medialon, Ovation, Alcorn McBride, Birket and Allen Bradley is preferred.
  • Emergency repairs, parts assembly, and networking is preferred.
  • Position requires frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. 
  • Position requires working at heights greater than 4 ft.
  • Position requires working with compressed gas cylinders or tanks.
  • Position requires the use of an Extendable Boom Forklift (Lull).
  • Position requires the use of a Forklift (sit down, stand-up, or motorized pallet jacks).
  • Position requires the use of a Highreach (Aerial lift).


REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations


VISION

The following visual abilities are all required:

  • Clear vision at 20 inches or less
  • Clear distance vision at 20 feet or more
  • Accurate color vision (the ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Excellent peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
  • Accurate depth perception (three-dimensional ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Ability to adjust one’s focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)


LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
