About you:

Over 30 bolt on acquisitions in recent years have helped to fuel the rapid expansion of The Access Group, both in the UK and overseas. It is against this backdrop of local and global expansion that we are seeking an experienced and pragmatic Group Tax Director, ideally with experience in setting up a Tax function.


As the inaugural Group Tax Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the tax strategy for our multinational organisation. Reporting directly to CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all tax related functions, ensuring compliance, and optimising tax efficiency in alignment with our business objectives.


Day-to-day, you will:


Tax strategy and operations

●Articulate and implement the Tax function vision, ensuring strong engagement from team members (currently 4 FTEs) through fostering effective relationships, creating a collaborative and results driven culture.

●Identify opportunities to continually improve tax operations and development of the team, investing in their professional growth.

●Develop and implement the global tax strategy, aligning to the company's business strategy and objectives.

●Develop and implement a tax governance and risk management approach to enable a robust tax control environment.

●Continuously review and take action to improve operational effectiveness and consistency through process, technology and / or people capability development.

●Monitor and provide periodic reporting of tax performance to the Executive and Senior Management.


Your skills and experiences might also include:


Business partnering

●Actively increase the visibility and engagement of the wider business with Tax on all tax matters.

●Build relationships and collaborate with key internal stakeholders so that tax considerations are integrated into transactions, broader organisational strategy and change.

●Educate and provide updates to key internal stakeholders of tax legislative and regulatory changes that may impact transactions and business strategy.

●Provide UK specific tax guidance in relation to M&A and other advisory projects.

●Work closely with private equity partners to align tax strategies with broader financial and strategic goals.


Compliance and advisory

●Be responsible for reviewing and ensuring that all statutory obligations and reporting requirements for tax purposes are submitted accurately and on time to relevant tax authorities.

●Be responsible for the tax provisioning and statutory reporting processes globally.

●Annual review of tax processes and controls to meet the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) requirements and associated UK tax strategy requirements.

●Be responsible and provide tax support for M&A activity and processes.

●Develop and implement transfer pricing strategy and compliance. Ensure that the Group Transfer Pricing policy is embedded globally across the business, ensuring compliance with policies set.

●Assess and identify how new and emerging tax regulations (e.g. Pillar Two) will impact the organisation and develop the appropriate actions to address and meet the new requirements.


Requirements, skills and qualifications

●A qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA) or Chartered Tax Advisor.

●10+ years of experience in tax, particularly in M&A and international tax.

●Strong communicator with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

●Adaptable and agile in an unstructured and fluid environment.

●Motivated to provide the highest standard of delivery and demanding the same of others.

●Critically review and interpret information and recommend a course of action.

●Work effectively within a team and with external parties on dynamic projects and be able to respond to changes quickly and effectively.

●Proven leadership skills in leading and developing a high-performing Tax team.
