Job Summary A successful candidate will machine parts according to engineering specifications with a focus on safety, accuracy, precision, and quality. He/she will use manual machining equipment ( No CNC ) such as lathes, mills, drill presses, band saws, etc. Candidate must be able to read blueprints and use various precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. He/she will primarily be machining stainless steel parts but is expected to know how to machine other materials including but not limited to carbon steel, aluminum, and various plastics. Physical Demands The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Candidates must be able to work longer hours as needed. This could be for extended periods of time and could include extended shift hours as well as weekends. Must be able to regularly stand, walk and frequently crouch/stoop, kneel, bend, and occasionally crawl while performing job duties. Candidates must also be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights. Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety harness, hard hat, gloves, ear plugs and safety glasses. Candidates must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs, unassisted and occasionally lift/move objects up to 100 lbs. Good manual dexterity for the use of common hand tools, power tools and the ability to navigate around obstacles is necessary. Work Environment Requirements Job functions will primarily be performed in the shop facility and around construction/turnaround sites in food production facilities and include possible hazardous environments such as working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, fumes, sparks, weld flash, vibrations, dust, dirt, irritants, and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the project and customer facility requirements. Stainless Systems, Inc. will supply PPE as required except for steel toe safety footwear and welding hood (assistance program is available to employees for safety footwear). Experience Required 1 year of manual machining experience or completion of an equivalent vocational program Ability to operate manual machining equipment including lathes and mills Must be able to pass a machining qualification test Ability to read, write, and speak in English Ability to read and understand blueprints and machine symbols to maintain a tight tolerance on machined parts Experience with machining stainless steel Ability to understand feed rates and speeds for tooling and materials Must be willing and able to meet all Company and Customer facility entry requirements including training, background check, health and safety requirements, and preemployment drug test. Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States What Will Put You Ahead 2 years of manual machining experience Experience using a Baileigh lathe and Bridgeport mill Experience with other manufacturing skills such as welding and fabrication Experience with machining materials other than stainless steel Compensation: Full-time starting wage is $20.00 per hour, but salary may be adjusted based on experience Job Application: Candidate can apply online with ZipRecruiter Application is also available to complete onsite
