Job Description Job Description Project Electrical Engineer - MEP POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a Project Electrical Engineer that will lead through electrical projects for MEP clients in the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey Markets. This position will be required to manage Electrical Projects in new construction and construction renovation for Hospitality, Higher Education, Healthcare, Laboratory, Data Centers, and Government type facilities and will require previous experience in these sectors. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide overall engineer direction for your discipline for projects assigned to you. Perform engineering calculations, preparing single line diagrams, sizing of electrical components and equipment, conduct short circuit analysis where required and prepare technical specifications. Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget. Perform design, layout, and checking of electrical systems drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes. Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings and provide field construction support, as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements. Must have experience/working knowledge of lighting and electrical load analysis software. Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad, Revit is required. Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus. Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions. Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports. Standard specification editing is required. Specification development experience is required. Experience in client design presentations is required. Experience in supervising design teams is a plus. Knowledge of infrastructure and commercial facilities is required. Knowledge of the design of standby and emergency generator systems is required. Able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must have experience in new construction and renovations for corporate, healthcare, higher education, kitchen, and mission critical facilities. Experience in designing and overseeing construction of electrical systems including normal and emergency power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm systems, electrical system studies (short circuit, selective coordination, and arc flash), and lightning protection. MINIMUM Education & Experience BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering. Minimum 5 - 10 years professional experience with proven progression in Electrical engineering and design of building electrical systems. Experience in executing a design project with Autodesk, Autocad or Revit and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM). Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred strongly. Proficient in Electrical load calculations. Proficient with Etap, Capper/Dapper or equivalent. Proficient in the development of specifications for UPS systems, emergency/standby generators, and low and medium voltage switchgear. Knowledge of commercial and data center infrastructure. Ability to lead a team of junior engineers. Experience with field surveys and construction administration. Applicants must be able to pass a background check. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
