About the job We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Legal Cashier to work alongside the Legal Cashier Supervisor to ensure best practices and SRA regulations are observed and adhered to. As a Senior Legal Cashier, you will play a key role in overseeing the firm's day-to-day financial operations. You will manage all Client transaction postings, ensuring compliance with SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) regulations and the accurate processing of financial transactions within the firm. You will be your team's first point of contact, providing guidance while ensuring that all cash handling and financial processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with legal requirements. Responsibilities Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), SRA regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Transaction Management: Oversee all Client postings and reconciliation of financial transactions such as client and office account payments, receipts, transfers, and journals. Training & Development: Actively engage in ongoing training and development ensuring that you are up to date with financial regulations, best practices, and internal procedures to eliminate SRA breaches. Reporting & Audits: Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual reports. Coordinate internal audits and support the external audit process as needed. Client Funds: Ensure that client accounts are properly handled and that all transactions involving client funds are processed in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve any discrepancies, queries, or issues raised by internal teams, clients, or external parties, escalating when necessary. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, streamlining workflows, and ensuring that all cashiering tasks are completed efficiently. Liaison: Serve as the senior point of contact for internal departments, providing financial information as needed. What we’re looking for Skills and Experience Experience: At least 3 years of experience working as a legal cashier, Supervision experience is beneficial, as this role may occasionally require providing supervisory support in the manager’s absence. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and SRA regulations. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to handling financial transactions and resolving discrepancies. Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work to tight deadlines. Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with senior management, clients, and other departments. IT Proficiency: Proficient in legal cashiering software (experience with 3E, Aderant, or similar systems is desirable) Personal Attributes Be able to maintain a positive and cheerful demeanour to building excellent working relationships with a wide variety of colleagues and partners. Be very people oriented – want to be helpful and sort things out for people. Thrive on spinning many plates with a cool head and to empathise with those you are spinning them for.
