Salary: $15.00 - $16.00 Hourly Location : Ardmore, OK Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 00491 Department: PARK & RECREATION Division: COMMUNITY POOL Opening Date: 03/04/2025 Closing Date: 5/18/2025 11:59 PM Central Description Under the direction of the Pool Manager, assist with administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the day to day operation and maintenance of the City water park and in coordinating various aquatics programs. Accomplishes specialized work in protecting life, preventing accidents, enforcing safety regulations and providing instructions; and performs related work as required. The pool manager must have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations and adopt effective courses of action. This position also requires effective communication (written and verbal) skills and has the ability to engage positively with the Assistant Director, staff, membership and public. Duties Represent Ardmore Parks and Recreation with a Professional Attitude and appropriate appearance Insure hourly employees work no more than 40 hours per week Ensure accurate time keeping for all employees Count and confirm accurate cash handling and reporting Insure employees under his/her direct supervision are properly trained in their duties and presenting a clean professional appearance Handle first aid problems Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks Maintain discipline at the swimming pool facility and supervises all staff enforcing staff policies and rules Enforce the City of Ardmore Swimming Pool rules and regulations to staff and public Maintain a clean facility including but not limited to bathrooms, concessions, trash picked up in and outside of facility Set a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow Properly oversee all opening and closing duties Assist the Pool Manager in scheduling, training, and supervising lifeguards, swimming instructors, cashiers and other related personnel Prepares attendance and accident reports Assist the Pool Manager in the maintenance of the swimming pool; monitor and maintain pool filtration system; monitor pool water chemistry through testing of water samples; adjust chemistry as needed to maintain standards Responds to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by person, telephone, or any other type of correspondence Assume full management responsibilities of City Pool facilities in absence of Pool Manager Other duties as deemed necessary or as required Qualifications SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess current certificates for Lifeguarding; First Aid/CPR card is also a required prior to pool opening. Manager must also have minimum of two years lifeguarding experience and a high school diploma PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Use of hands, arms and legs and other motor skills used for swimming skills. Ability to sit and work long periods of time in varying degrees of weather. Exposure to loud noise, bending, kneeling, walking on slippery surfaces, squatting; uses senses of vision, hearing and small to diagnose problems. This is a Safety Sensitive position: This job has been classified as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
