Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and assertive Billing & Collections Specialist to handle full-cycle medical billing, coding, and collections for our home health care agency. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and relentless in pursuing unpaid claims and outstanding balances. This role requires a strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance processes, along with the tenacity to drive revenue recovery through strategic follow-ups and appeals. Key Responsibilities Billing & Claims Submission (35%) Accurately submit claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance carriers. Code claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Review documentation for completeness and compliance prior to billing. Ensure timely and correct claim submissions, reducing denials and rejections. Aggressive Collections & A/R Management (40%) Proactively manage aging reports and follow up persistently on unpaid claims. Handle rejections and denials with urgency—initiate appeals and resubmissions quickly. Implement effective strategies to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and maximize collections. Contact insurance companies and patients as needed to resolve billing issues and secure payments. Compliance, Audits & Reporting (15%) Stay current on payer regulations, Medicaid/Medicare changes, and compliance requirements. Maintain accurate and organized billing records and logs. Assist with financial audits and internal reviews. Collaboration & Insurance Maintenance (10%) Coordinate with clinical, scheduling, and admin teams to ensure proper documentation for billing. Support insurance credentialing and contract renewals as needed. Participate in team meetings and training to stay aligned with company goals. Who You Are ✅ Experience: 2 years of medical billing & collections experience (required). Home health care billing experience preferred . Experience with Alora, HHA, or APD systems is a big plus. ✅ Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and billing software. Deep knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes, and EOB interpretation. Strong knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, and private insurance. Excellent communication and negotiation skills — especially in handling collections. High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. ✅ Education & Certifications: Associate’s Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred. Certification in Medical Billing & Coding strongly preferred.
