Job Description Job Description About the Role: We are looking for an on-site Property Accountant to join our team! The Property Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of our properties. This position is responsible for managing all accounting functions related to property operations, including account reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with real estate tax regulations. The Property Accountant will utilize advanced accounting systems, such as MRI, to maintain accurate financial records and prepare detailed financial statements. By analyzing balance sheets and conducting financial audits, this role will provide insights that drive strategic decision-making. Ultimately, the Property Accountant will contribute to the overall financial health and operational efficiency of our properties, ensuring that we meet our financial goals and maintain compliance with industry standards. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting or a similar role. Proficiency in accounting software, particularly MRI or similar systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the hospitality or real estate industry. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP Familiarity with financial audit processes and compliance regulations. Responsibilities: Prepare monthly financial statement and general ledger reporting for several (10-15) properties including a monthly cash flow analysis and presentation to the Property Managers on a staggered month-end cutoff. Conduct monthly account reconciliations and ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting principles. Review/approve daily voucher approval of invoices to ensure accuracy of payments and verification within property budgets. Post of daily cash receipts. Utilize MRI system to track financial performance and generate reports for management review. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights based on historical data and market trends. Annual Projects: Assist the Property Manager with annual budgets. Forecast operating expenses. Operating expense comparison of actual to budget. Prepare tax return and operating expense escalation adjustments. Working Conditions: Environment: Full-time, office-based role in a professional, fast-paced executive environment. Frequent one-on-one interactions with the Owner, family members, external partners, and clients. Schedule & Flexibility: Standard business hours with the potential for occasional extended or irregular hours to meet urgent needs. Physical & Mental Demands: The role may require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Must be able to manage the mental demands of multitasking in a dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environment. Occasional off-site visits to meetings or events may be required. Confidentiality & Security: Must adhere to strict confidentiality protocols while handling sensitive business information. Work is performed in secure settings, and the candidate must follow company guidelines to ensure data protection and privacy. Physical Requirements: General Activity: The role is primarily office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and extensive computer use. Must be able to remain seated for long durations while maintaining focus on detailed tasks. Mobility & Dexterity: Occasional walking between various office locations or meeting venues may be required. Ability to stand for short periods during meetings, presentations, or events. Lifting & Handling: Occasional lifting and moving of office materials, files, or equipment is required, with a maximum weight of approximately 25 pounds. Frequent use of fine motor skills for typing, filing, and handling documents. Environmental Considerations: Work is performed in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels. The position may occasionally require travel to external meetings or events, necessitating some physical stamina.
