Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorder’s Neurologists Physician at Department of Veterans Affairs summary: A position is available for a Board Certified Staff Physician specializing in Neurology, specifically focused on Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders at the VA Portland Healthcare Center. The physician will manage a range of neurological conditions among Veteran patients and will engage in clinical, administrative, and academic activities while participating in a Movement Disorders Neurology program. Seeking A Talented Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorder’s Neurologists Physician to Join the Section of Parkinson’s Disease Research, Education & Clinal Centers in Portland, OR. Position Information The VA Portland Healthcare Center actively recruiting to fill Board Certified Staff physician in Neurology – Parkinson’s & Movement Disorders (BE considered) to help care for our Veterans – American’s Heroes. The Portland Veterans Affairs Healthcare Center Neurologists manages a variety of neurological movements disorders conditions of Veteran patients with Parkinson’s disease, Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders, Dystonia, Huntington’s Disease, and others. You will see general neurology patients inpatient Neurology duties, which included both a ward and consult service. Participate in all aspects of a Movement Disorders Neurology program, to include clinical, administrative, academic, and research components. Patient caseload may be inpatient, outpatient, or both and include a range of neurological disorders. Must be comfortable with DBS programming for multiple platforms. Have some procedural experience with botulinum toxin injections for hemi-facial spasm, migraine, blephospasm, dystonia and occipital nerve blocks, but training can be an option. Manageable volume & on-call, maximim of 4 weeks per year. BC/BE in Neurology is required. VAPORHCS is a major teaching site and research site closely affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) with an opportunity to teach medical students, residents & fellows and obtain an academic appointment. VAPORHCS hosts about 2,000 health professional learners annually and ranks in the top 10 nationwide among VAs in research grant support, with over 170 investigators in basic science, clinical, and health services research and over 1000 active protocols. Work Schedule : Part-time, Monday-Friday, (May be required to work evenings or weekends while on call-likely a total of 4 weeks a year). Open to U.S. Citizens but non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Board Certification in Neurology and Movement Disorders Fellowship preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered.
