Bella Vista is seeking a passionate and experienced Activity / Programs Director to lead and elevate our resident engagement initiatives. The Activity / Programs Director is responsible for designing and managing a comprehensive program of activities that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents. This role ensures the delivery of engaging group and individual activities while building strong community partnerships and leading a small, dedicated team. Key Responsibilities: Plan, develop, and execute a diverse calendar of programs and events tailored to meet the needs and preferences of all residents, including those with cognitive impairments. Lead monthly resident council meetings to gather feedback and ensure resident-driven programming. Actively engage with local organizations to expand community-based programs and guest-led activities at the facility. Oversee and support a small team of activity staff and volunteers, providing training and supervision. Escort and assist residents to activities, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of inclusion. Deliver one-on-one engagement for residents who are unable or choose not to attend group activities. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, behavior tracking, and care-related notes. Create and distribute monthly activity calendars; coordinate with all departments to ensure smooth program execution. Organize and decorate for regular and special events. Ensure compliance with all Minnesota Department of Health regulations and dementia-specific training standards. Manage the department’s budget, inventory, and supplies. Customer Service Expectations: Promote a welcoming, respectful, and engaging atmosphere for residents, families, staff, and visitors. Ensure timely execution of scheduled programs; assist and encourage residents to participate. Promptly report changes in resident health or behavior to appropriate personnel. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Requirements: Experience as an Activity Director or Programs Director in an assisted living or long-term care facility (Required) Prior programming experience in senior care, healthcare, or a similar environment OT (Occupational Therapy) or PT (Physical Therapy) certification (Preferred) Minimum 1 year of experience in: Recreational therapy Life enrichment or senior programming Long-term care environments Team leadership or staff supervision Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills Compassionate and resident-centered approach to care Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all health and background check requirements Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Location: On-site Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Occasional evenings/weekends for events Weekend rotations
