1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants We are seeking an Outdoor Data Technician on a 1-year contract basis in our Massarosa, Italy location. In this role, you will be responsible for completing well-defined tasks for the evaluation of outdoor trail data, which will be used in creating navigational databases for mobile applications and GPS-enabled devices. What you’ll do: Work as a data processing specialist under the supervision of a technical lead or mentor. Create, edit, and maintain outdoor trail data using Garmin-proprietary and third-party software. Complete well-defined processing tasks. Identify and resolve issues using proper techniques. Identify data problems and collaborate with peers to ensure consistency in processing and outputs. Cultivate a strong customer service culture within your team. Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on priorities. What you’ll need: Bachelor’s Degree in Geosciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Basic knowledge of digital mapping principles relevant to Garmin’s business needs. Proficient computer skills and familiarity with PC applications in a Windows environment. Some experience with electronic navigation, such as hiking or cycling. Ability to learn and apply established processes and tools. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with organizational skills to document work thoroughly. An enthusiastic attitude with a strong sense of commitment, accountability, and urgency. Ability to focus on tasks, share ideas positively, and demonstrate a growth mindset and eagerness to learn. Bonus points if you have: A passion for hiking with experience using navigational devices to follow GPS tracks in complex trail systems or unmarked environments. Some proficiency in Spanish.
