Job Description Hiring for Fall 2025. Job Title : Community Recreation Track and Field Sampler Classification: Student Employee (non-exempt) Name and Address of Employer: St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave, Northfield, MN 55057 If the position requires the student to work off campus, provide the name and address here: Northfield Middle School (2200 Division St S) Length of Position: See Employment Authorization Contact Person/Supervisor: Melissa Bernhard Pay Rate: Specialized CBWS Hourly Rate ($18.71/hour). This pay rate aligns with the pay scale for Northfield Public Schools and is subject to an annual wage increase. IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award re-determinations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state/federal work award come Fall 2025. Students who are unsure if they currently have a state or federal work award - please contact finaid@stolaf.edu before applying to find out what type of work award you have. Description of the Position: Get on track this fall, and share your love of running and field events with the youth in the community. Lead participants in short sprints; middle distance running; relays; and field events, including hurdles; shot put; and long jump. Assist participants in increasing their muscle; coordination; agility; and speed. Teach character lessons about perseverance, respect, and working as a team. A mini track meet will take place on the last day of the program. Four Saturdays total in September and October, 9:45 am - noon, Northfield Middle School Track Duties and Responsibilities: Will administer the established curriculum. Will provide effective coaching and a quality program. Will oversee child behavior, and implement the disciplinary action plan as needed Will arrive early, know and fully execute the plan for each day, engage 100% throughout the program, teach general disciplines of each activity, enhance skill development, build relationships with youth, and communicate as needed with parents/guardians. Will show enthusiasm and create fun, positive experiences through words, actions, and non-verbal's Will keep track of time worked and record it on timesheets. Will openly communicate with the recreation coordinator, in a timely manner, regarding vacation requests, program issues, etc. Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) Desire to invest in individual achievement. Desire to provide an organized and positive learning environment. Evidence of relationship building with youth. Evidence of specific sport or program knowledge and experience.
