Food Van Kitchen/Service Assistant

About You : The candidate needs to be physically fit and able to read, write, understand instructions and do simple arithmetic well. Position Summary : You will be a part of a passionate team working under the guidance of a Shift Manager to provide an excellent customer experience in a fast paced food van environment. Some of your duties will be: helping with opening and closing, managing customer orders and enquiries, using our Point of Sale system, providing support in all aspects of kitchen operation including helping with the preparation of food and drinks and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety in the working environment. Key Requirements : Experience in a fast-paced and high efficiency environment (preferred); Customer service skills; Ability to identify potential hazards; Good literacy and numeracy skills; Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form; Ability to follow written procedures to a high degree; High standard of presentation and attention to detail; Ability to stay calm, effective and professional under pressure; Ability to work a flexible rotating roster including evenings/weekends; Proven ability to adapt to changes (technology, methods, operating conditions, etc) readily. Prefer some experience in operating a variety of kitchen equipment including grill/griddle, cup/bowl sealing machine, point-of-sale system, sugarcane juicing machine (preferred); Ability to work around hazardous equipment maturely and safely. Job Responsibility : Be your warm and positive self at all times while at work; Add value to the customer's experience by suggesting products they might want including any current promotions we may have; Listen to, interact with and build rapport with customers; Communicate customer feedback to Team and Management; Complete the transaction using the Point of Sales system; Know the health and safety requirements in this workplace; Maintain a clean work environment; Follow the Food Safety Program (FSP) and temperature checking and cleaning schedule; Help maintain all records (food temperature checks, cleaning schedules, deliveries, stock levels, etc); Follow directions from managers; Take care for their own health and safety as well as that of others who may be exposed to the work they do; Create a healthy and safe environment in the workplace by proactively rectifying potential hazards; Inform other team members and management of potential hazards and near miss incidents; Report any potential and actual hazards to their manager by following the accident reporting procedures; Make use of available safeguards, safety devices, safe work procedures and personal protective equipment provided; Participate in safety training where provided.
