South Coast Nursing Homes is an established and successful, family owned and managed, care home company, with a head office based in Worthing, West Sussex. We currently operate 9 homes across East and West Sussex. We have 411 beds in our portfolio, Each registered home offers the highest standards of resident care and comfort, 24 hours - day and night, for long and short-term stays. Reporting into our People and Business Executive, this role will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and involves leading a team of Head Chefs/Chef and other catering professionals to deliver outstanding quality home cooked, nutritious food dishes across our entire portfolio. Recognising the key importance of dining in a care home setting, the Executive Chef will be able to deliver consistently high-quality menu choices across a 7-days a week - inspiring their team with inspirational leadership - training, nurturing and guiding them to be their best versions of themselves. The Executive Chef must always be looking to drive the food offering forwards, creating new dishes which inspire and delight - providing a real wow factor to mealtimes. This will include the physical environment such as table settings, cleanliness and hygiene. This role spans across all of our Homes form Seaford to East Preston and Haywards Heath. The influence and responsibility is significant and it's vital that consistently high standards are maintained across all homes, so there is no discernible difference in the offering. Further responsibilities will include sensible planning and buying of ingredients; Monthly kitchen audits; Training the team in the correct use and maintenance of equipment; Meeting with Head Chefs/Chefs and Kitchen assistants to engage them in the required standards and overall vision. Skills, qualifications and knowledge Essential: An inspiring leader of a department of over 50 skilled kitchen colleagues. Level 2 Chef (Professional Cooking) is a minimum requirement for this role. The role will require 3-5 years' experience running an operation with c.400 covers . A Food Hygiene Level 3 qualification, or greater will be required. A clean driving licence. You will need to be computer literate. Exposure to CareHome catering - an ability to empathise with our residents and understand the individual and unique needs of each person and the fundamental importance of enjoying food and good nutrition. Able to think on your feet and under pressure when dealing with multiple tasks - a critical thinking problem solver, stepping in to be hands on when necessary. Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to get on with people at all levels from residents, families, suppliers, aspiring chefs and shareholders.
