Job Description Job Description Description: The primary responsibility of the Adapted Aquatics Instructor (AAI) is to assist the Aquatic Physical Therapist in providing therapy-based aquatic sessions as well as recreational aquatic sessions to individuals of all ages with intellectual disabilities. The AAI is a member of the individual’s interdisciplinary team and helps determine each individual’s strengths and needs. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Shift Available: Full Time - 40 Hours 7:30am - 4pm : Monday thru Friday Contributions: Provides adaptive aquatic therapy treatments and procedures, under the supervision of the Aquatic Physical Therapist for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Time is spent at least 75% of the session time in the water to ensure time for transport and changing. Documents daily attendance and maintains necessary data in the appropriate electronic medical record. Prepares quarterly staffing reports to reflect the individual’s progress, including behavioral responses, while attending therapy sessions. May attend Interdisciplinary Team meetings as requested. May participate in planning and implementing additional recreational activities for the individuals both on and off campus. The AAI staff must maintain all regulatory logs as specified by all governing bodies. Such logs refer to the pool functions, including but not limited to water temperature, chemical balance, compliance with health and other applicable regulations, and physical structures. Is prompt and prepared to begin sessions on time and in an organized fashion; obtains and sets up equipment prior to a session and puts equipment away when finished. AAI staff must follow all standard infection control policies and procedures. Must demonstrate the ability to learn and functionally apply therapeutic techniques and the ability to develop and implement creative recreational activities. At least one year of experience working with ID/D population Adapted Therapeutic Exercise Certification is required, through Aquatic Therapy & Rehab Institute (ATRI). Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license is required. Pesticide Applicator License (PAL) is required through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. • CPR/AED Certification is required.
