Job Description Job Description Job Title: Sous Chef Location: Southampton, NY Job Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team at an upscale restaurant in Southampton. As the Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the kitchen’s daily operations, working closely with the Executive Chef to ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, leadership experience, and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation. Supervise and lead kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. Help create and execute seasonal menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and offer unique, high-quality dishes. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring all kitchen staff adhere to proper hygiene and safety protocols. Train and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance and development opportunities to foster a positive and productive team environment. Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner and meets the restaurant’s standards for quality, taste, and presentation. Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs to maintain budgetary guidelines. Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organization, ensuring that workstations, equipment, and storage areas are maintained to a high standard. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication between the kitchen and dining room, ensuring guest satisfaction. Handle customer feedback, complaints, and special dietary requests, ensuring that all concerns are addressed professionally and promptly. Qualifications: 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef, Line Cook, or similar role in a high-end or fine-dining restaurant. Strong culinary skills with a thorough understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation, and presentation. Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and train kitchen staff. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation regulations, and health compliance. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
