Job Description
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 06/19/2025 whichever comes first. Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park preserves the sites of both Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie in Charleston Harbor. Together these sites preserve elements of all major periods of American seacoast defense and bear witness to a continuum of American history from the battle of Sullivan's Island in the American Revolution through U-boat surveillance operations during World War II, spanning 171 years of coastal defense and the site where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired. Park staff are responsible for preserving and interpreting a diverse set of historic resources and construction types including brick & mortar fortifications, Endicott Era batteries, concrete bunkers, stonework, wooden construction, metalworks, and modern structures and systems in a harsh coastal salient environment. Charleston, and the surrounding area is a growing coastal community. The historical and preservation communities are vibrant and involved, including several preservation schools and universities. It is home to several local beaches. Attractions include boating, paddleboarding, kayak/canoe, sailing, scenic walking and biking, craft eateries, distilleries, world class restaurants, historic tourism, music venues, theatre, and more.
