Job Description
Role: Residential Support Worker - Temporary - Newry Job Overview VANRATH are delighted to support one of NI's most recognisable public sector employers who are actively seeking a Residential Support Worker to join their team on an interim basis - The post holder will support multidisciplinary therapeutic interventions for children and young people with intellectual disabilities or complex needs, within a residential service based on best practice. Band 4 37.5 hours per week Temporary position, until September Key Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to young people, building positive relationships and acting as a role model Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory and Trust requirements Liaise effectively with parents, carers, educational staff, and professionals to support each young person's development Promote a safe, clean, and supportive environment in accordance with Health & Safety and infection control policies Support young people with daily living tasks such as cooking, personal care, and household responsibilities Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to support professional development Promote community involvement and accompany young people on outings, appointments, and activities Handle Trust funds responsibly, ensuring proper recording and safe custody of monies Essential Criteria: Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a caring role with children, young people, or young adults with Intellectual Disabilities in community, acute, or residential settings 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English, or equivalent qualifications Registered with NISCC (Social Care Register) or eligible for registration prior to appointment Ability to work flexibly, including weekends Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with a disability) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond sensitively to service users' needs Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Desirable Criteria: NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People Experience working therapeutically with young people For further information on this job, or any other Public Sector role in Northern Ireland, apply via the link or contact Ryan Sykes for a confidential chat today.
