Talent4Health is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Nampa, Idaho. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/30/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Required Certifications ACLS, BLS, ENPC, PALS, TNCC RN ID /Compact license Shift Notes 7p-7a, every other weekend, float as needed - possibility to float to Meridian and Boise in ER- doesn't happen often Experience & Skills Requirements Minimum 1–2 years of ED experience required Must be comfortable with pediatric patients Must be able to manage patient flow in a busy ED First-time travelers are welcome Emergency Department (ER) / Emergency Department (ED) Unit Overview Trauma, Cardiac, and Stroke Designation Trauma Level: Level IV Trauma Center STEMI Receiving: Yes – Transfers out for interventional cath lab care Stroke Center: Yes – Transfers out if intervention is required Department Structure Total Beds: 24 private rooms Fast Track/Low Acuity Bays: 4 bays with chairs (used for low acuity/fast track) Trauma/Crash Room: 1 designated within the 24-room capacity Behavioral Health Rooms: 4 secure rooms equipped with safety features such as garage-door style closures for equipment and supplies Triage & Patient Flow Triage: Separate triage area operational 24/7 Travelers typically are not assigned triage duties Patient Holds: Boarding is minimal; on occasion patients are held for extended periods (maximum 20 hours noted) If more than 3–4 patients are boarding, a Med-Surg nurse is brought down to assist ER holds are intermixed within the main department Patient Volume: Approximately 110–120 patients per day Turnover: High room turnover with minimal wait times; protocols are initiated in the lobby for waiting patients (e.g., IV starts, lab draws) Staffing & Ratios Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3–4 Charge Nurse: Present 24/7, non-assigned to patient load; works 7a–7p Support Staff: ED Techs Secretary (24/7) Patient Sitters (as needed for behavioral health) Security: On-site 24/7, located in the ER lobby near triage Respiratory Therapy: In-house 24/7 Performs ABGs, breathing treatments Vent management (including nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) Note: Nurses troubleshoot but are not responsible for managing RT equipment EKGs: Performed by RNs or ED Techs Phlebotomy: RNs primarily draw labs; phlebotomy assists with difficult sticks Monitoring & Diagnostics Tele Monitoring: RNs interpret and read their own strips No dedicated Tele/Monitor Techs Monitor brand: [Not specified; assumed standard hospital use] Imaging: On-site X-ray and CT Located in the same hallway; patients are picked up for imaging Common Diagnoses & Patient Demographics All age groups seen ; ~20% pediatric ( Common Presentations: Respiratory complaints Abdominal pain Stroke symptoms Chest pain Walk-in traumas Injuries related to outdoor activities (fishing, hiking, farming) Population: Diverse; includes migrant workers and older farming community residents Pediatric Care: Sick children requiring higher-level care are transferred to Boise Required Certifications BLS ACLS PALS TNCC ENPC All certifications are required prior to start. Physician & Mid-Level Staffing MDs: 7 physicians rotate over 24 hours Mid-Levels: Scheduled from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM Between 2:00 AM and 8:00 AM , only 1 MD is present Medications and Interventions Common Drips: Standard emergency medications, conscious sedation agents RN Responsibilities: Full scope of emergency care; familiar with emergency protocols Scheduling & Shifts Shift Length: 12 hours Common Start Times: 0730, 0900, 1000, 1130, 1330, 1530, 1930 Scheduling System: Self-scheduling; finalized by manager after balancing Weekends: Every other weekend required Holidays: As needed Call/Standby: None required Floating: Rare; may occasionally float to Boise or Meridian EDs Dress Code Scrubs: Any color Must be clean and professional Orientation Department Orientation: 1 shift on the unit Culture & Work Environment Fast-paced environment with strong teamwork and camaraderie Young, experienced staff with good peer support High efficiency with quick patient turnover and low room wait times Social team culture – many staff participate in activities outside of work Additional Notes Facility is located near a sugar beet factory, which may create a distinct aroma in the area For greater recreational options, living in Meridian or Boise (approx. 20-minute drive) is recommended.
