Job Description
Location : Apeldoorn, the Netherlands (on-site) with regular international travel Position Type : Full-time (40 hours) About SILC Academy SILC Academy is the premium provider of high-end, boutique summer, winter, and school camp experiences for international students. With over 15 years of experience, we deliver unforgettable summer, winter and school camps in Switzerland, France and beyond for students aged 7–17 to develop 21st-century skills. Our programmes blend adventure, hospitality, and education with high expectations, clear standards, and personal attention and care for all our students and families. The Role This is not a typical business management role. It’s a hands-on, high-pressure, fast-paced leadership role that touches every corner of the organisation. The Business Manager leads the business end-to-end – from daily operations and curriculum to marketing, admissions, HR, finance and delivery. You’ll keep the wheels turning daily, while also driving growth, structure and standards across the organisation. You’ll work closely with the Head of Curriculum, Head of Operations, and Head of Marketing & Admissions, and lead a wider team including: Operations: Head of Operations and Operations Manager Curriculum Specialist Marketing & Admissions: Head of Marketing & Admissions, Admissions Managers, and Brand & Content Manager Camp delivery: 30 trainers, led by Camp Managers You’ll be responsible for supporting and developing the department heads, holding the overview across teams, and ensuring cohesion, accountability and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day business operations across all functions with full oversight and accountability Support and help develop department heads to continuously improve quality, systems, and service Further enhance business operations and structures to support scale and efficiency Own financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting – including regular analysis to guide operational decisions and growth strategy Ensure systems and standards are documented and implemented consistently across locations and teams Play a visible, hands-on role across camps – including international on-site presence as required Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and HR systems Ensure safeguarding, legal, and compliance requirements are met across all activities Drive a collaborative, solution-focused culture, bridging across departments and resolving operational challenges quickly What We're Looking For 3 years of experience in a senior operational or general management role, ideally within hospitality, education, or events. A hands-on, pragmatic operator who thrives under pressure and leads by example Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L Proven experience in standardising operations and scaling processes Entrepreneurial mindset – we are building, refining, scaling. Not coasting. Clear communicator with a direct, no-nonsense style and ability to build trust across levels Strong financial literacy with a proven track record managing budgets and reporting in complex environments High operational resilience – if you think five-star hospitality is intense, try adding educational complexity and responsibility for students Comfortable switching between high-level strategy and detailed execution Travel is mandatory – especially to Switzerland and France, where many of our camps run.
