Job Description

San Clemente Palace Venice is looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our Finance team. About the job Based at San Clemente Palace within the Finance Department in Venice, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of goods and services across the property. This role ensures cost-efficiency, quality, and compliance while supporting operational needs and maintaining high brand standards. The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director of Finance. Responsibilities include: Source and purchase goods, materials, and services required by all departments in a timely and cost-effective manner. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure best value, quality, and reliability. Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with vendors to secure favorable agreements. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate stock control. Evaluate supplier performance regularly and take corrective actions when necessary. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate purchasing records, documentation, and reports for internal audits and budget tracking. Collaborate closely with kitchen, housekeeping, engineering, and other teams to align purchasing with operational needs. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement cycle. Supervise and train purchasing or receiving staff, ensuring efficiency and adherence to procedures. Qualifications include: Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role within the hospitality or luxury industry. Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills. Solid understanding of supply chain processes, inventory control, and procurement software. High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and deliver savings without compromising quality. Knowledge of local market, import/export regulations, and sustainable sourcing practices. Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, solution-driven approach. Proficiency in English and Italian; other languages are a plus. Familiarity with hospitality systems is an advantage. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
