Job Type Full-time Description Position Title: Survey Crew Manager Location: Field Reports to: Surveyor Supervisor Classification: Salary, Exempt Purpose: The Survey Crew Manager will provide the necessary planning, direction and coordination of the project assigned to their crew by the Surveyor Supervisor. The survey crew is responsible for creating the final post-plot map which is used to direct the seismic crew's activities. Using Global Positioning System (GPS) the surveyors identify source and receiver points and identifies offsets for waterholes, gas and pipelines and structures for each job. The Survey Crew Manager is responsible for the success of the survey crew by monitoring the production, efficiency and safety of all members. Summary of Essential Job Functions: Receive job information from Surveyor Supervisor. Assumes total responsibility and accountability for the performance and completion of all assigned tasks and duties. Directs crew to lay out receiver and source points according to pre-plot information using GPS and/or conventional surveying techniques. Import/export information from GPS to mapping software. Identify Hazards and Avoidance areas for Seismic crew. Make 24 Hour Notice calls to landowners. Make 'ONE' calls to utilities providers. Communicate daily progress of job completion to Surveyor Supervisor. Send complete survey data to Surveyor Supervisor for review. Communicates to Surveyor Supervisor any and all permitting issues. Purchases survey supplies as needed for crew. Establishes lodging for crew and reconciles weekly hotel spreadsheet to hotel bill. Submits all bills to office in a timely manner. Ensures judicious and ethical use of company funds; purchases wisely and evaluates cost/benefit before purchasing. Organize and coordinate all logistics associated with crew moves, including DOT compliance and equipment readiness. Maintains and promotes a professional image of the Company at all times, including when meeting with landowners, clients etc. Ensures each employee on the crew is accountable and knowledgeable of their roles and responsibilities. Completes any, and all, other tasks assigned by Surveyor Supervisor. Required Knowledge and Skills: One year experience surveying with an emphasis in the Seismic Industry. Basic understanding of Seismic field operations to answer landowner/lessor questions. Ability to adapt to changing work environments. Previous experience using GPS and mapping software, including Xmap and GPSeismic. Ability to read and understand various field maps and topographic maps. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office business suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc). Mathematical ability at the level of scaling maps. Project management and ability to meet established timelines. Valid Driver's License. Fluent in English language. Desirable Qualifications: Previous experience in Seismic survey activities. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish. The following work environment and physical demands are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: The Survey Crew Manager is a Full-time position working on location in remote isolated outdoor environments, subject to extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow and sudden changes in temperatures. Terrain may be uneven, slippery, inclined or unstable. Work may also be performed along highways, cross over roads, and involve water crossings. There may be exposure to dust, dirt, fumes and vibration, and there is potential for exposure to corrosive battery acid. Extensive travel from job to job is required (lodging and per diem provided). Working long hours may be necessary in order to meet project deadlines. Physical Demands: The Survey Crew Manager must be able to, but not limited to: Constantly walk across land when laying source and receiver points. Constantly communicate verbally and by typing using telephone, email, tex and other media. Constantly talk and listen when reporting to Surveyor Supervisor and with landowners. Constantly required to use specific vision abilities, including close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Constantly stoop, kneel, crouch or bend. Frequently remain in a stationary position and operate a computer. Frequently sit to travel from job to job. Frequently lift and/or move items up to 50lbs. If the need arises be able to distinguish taste or smell of gas, spilled fluids, smoke.
