For over 30 years, Allies has been providing thousands of at-risk children and their families with critical, high-quality early education programs (including comprehensive Early Head Start services), family strengthening interventions, foster care and adoption services, and a range of vital, integrated services, including mental health services, educational assessments, disabilities screenings, nutrition, dental and vision screenings, and pediatric health consultations. JOB SUMMARY: The Allies Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for providing community based in-person home visiting services for families with young children. The FSS will be trained to support the implementation of evidence based and evidence informed home visiting practices for pregnant persons and parents - with a focus on parenting young adults with young children. Ensures agency and client compliance with program regulations and the Healthy Families America Home Visiting Model, service data entry, evaluation data tracking and provides support for programs and general operations as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect Experience in supporting culturally diverse communities/families Responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term (up to three or five years) contact and support with families primarily within the family’s home Provide interventions that are family-centered, strength-based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship; strengthening the parent-child relationship; promoting healthy childhood growth and development; and enhancing family well-being by reducing risk and building protective factors Administering the Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth Scale (FROG) Scale; administering screening tools such as the ASQ, ASQ-SE, Depression Screens etc.; identifying and referring families for other supportive services, including health care services Responsible for assisting family with goal setting and support throughout the process of meeting the goals Responsible for implementing activities outlined on the Family Service Plan to address areas of concern that were identified on the FROG scale. Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention and promotion services Participation in reflective practice Keep files organized and up to date in accordance with program requirements and COA Accreditation Data entry and tracking Participation with outreach and recruitment efforts and community events Apply program guidelines and follow established procedures and policies Maintains appropriate confidentiality and HIPPA compliance Contribute to intra-agency communication regarding participant successes Evening and weekend hours may be required Other duties as assigned (e.g. supporting cross agency programs) Staff must believe in and act in accordance with both the Agency's and the program's mission statements. QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: Minimum of AA diploma or equivalent, BA preferred Experience working with or providing services to young children and their families An ability to establish trusting relationships Acceptance of individual differences Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families Knowledge of infant and child development Experience working with transition age youth strongly preferred (ages 18-24) Strong organizational skills and follow through Knowledge of community resources available for youth, parents and young children Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team and able to work independently Proficient in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and families who are served by our agency Fingerprint background clearance (DOJ, FBI & Child Abuse Clearance Index), or approved exemption Successful completion of pre-employment physical and PPD test/ risk assessment, immunizations for pertussis (Tdap), measles (MMR) and influenza (can decline) Class “C” driver’s license, proof of insurance, a safety record acceptable to CAA, and reliable transportation required Allies for Every Child actively seeks candidates who reflect the rich diversity of the communities that we serve.
