Pay Information $2,146 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Surgical Specialty Specialty: FS Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 36.00 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required. License: Current RN License issued by the appropriate State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. Must-Have: - Travel experience. - Step down experience. - Acute care surgical floor experience. - Experience in caring for patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with families and patients in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Nurses for this unit need Med Surg experience as this floor has inpatients pre or post-surgical services. Mostly surgical experience is needed. Candidates will care for patients post-operatively and need to have experience taking care of patients with complex care needs. Ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step down area. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is required. Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is crucial. Good verbal and written communication skills are expected. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is necessary. Some computer skills are required.
