Hey, future candidate! Weekendesk is seeking a highly strategic and results-oriented Head of Business Development to drive significant growth and innovation across our platform. This pivotal role will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing new business opportunities that expand our distribution, diversify revenue streams, enhance our product offering, and ultimately extend our market reach. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with ExCo members, you will lead a team of 4 people, foster key partnerships, and play a critical role in shaping the future trajectory of Weekendesk. Key Responsibilities Strategic Vision & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with Weekendesk's overall growth objectives. Identify emerging market trends, competitive landscapes, and new business opportunities within the travel and e-commerce space. Lead the entire business development lifecycle from prospecting and negotiation to implementation and ongoing relationship management. Distribution Channel Expansion: Lead and mentor the existing team focused on expanding and optimizing distribution channels. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new distribution partners to increase Weekendesk's booking volume and brand visibility. Optimize existing distribution partnerships for maximum performance and mutual benefit. New Revenue Stream Creation: Proactively identify and forge strategic partnerships that create innovative new revenue lines. This includes, but is not limited to, partnering with insurance providers, exploring advertising/sponsorship opportunities on our platform, leveraging our highly qualified audience for targeted promotions, and identifying other synergistic collaborations. Develop and present compelling business cases for new revenue initiatives. Offering Expansion: Lead the identification, negotiation, and integration of new inventory providers, such as bedbanks, activity providers, and other aggregators, to significantly expand the coverage and diversity of Weekendesk's portfolio. Ensure a seamless and efficient integration process for new supply partners. Lead the identification and development of new product offering (categories of stays, gift formats etc) to ensure that Weekendesk’s offering is meeting customer demand Market & Category Expansion: In close collaboration with the marketing team, conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential new categories of short stays to launch (e.g., specific themed breaks, niche experiences). Evaluate and define strategies for entering new geographic markets, including market entry requirements, competitive analysis, and partnership opportunities. Develop and present actionable proposals for new market and category launches. Team Leadership & Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing business development team. Set clear objectives, provide regular coaching and feedback, and foster a collaborative and results-driven environment. Manage team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) such as new partnerships secured, operating margin generated from new initiatives, and expansion metrics. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product and Tech, VP of sales and Operations teams to ensure seamless integration and successful execution of business development initiatives. Represent Weekendesk at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Does This Sound Like You? Proven Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a similar growth-focused role. Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and scaling business development teams. Results-Oriented: A strong track record of setting and achieving ambitious targets, identifying and closing significant deals, driving revenue growth, and expanding market reach. Strategic Thinker: Ability to think strategically, identify market opportunities, and translate them into actionable business plans. Negotiation & Influence: Highly skilled negotiator with a proven ability to forge mutually beneficial partnerships, navigate complex deal structures, and influence key stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. Strong Project Management Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from conception to execution, including setting clear objectives, managing timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful implementation of new initiatives and partnerships. Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure performance. Entrepreneurial Spirit: Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Language Skills: Fluent in English and with a high proficiency level in French. Spanish is a plus.
