Job Summary The School of Arts and Sciences at Dalton State College invites applicants for a full-time English Lecturer position (10-month), beginning August 1, 2025. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. Teaching and student success is emphasized. This non-tenure-track position involves a 5/4 (27 credit hours during the academic year) and optional Summer School sections as available. Primary courses taught will be ENGL 0999, 1101, and 1102 in face-to-face, hybrid, and streaming modalities, with opportunities for 2000- to upper-division course assignments after the first year for qualified individuals. The candidate may also be required to teach Perspectives 1010, Dalton States first-year experience course. Minimum annual salary for Lecturer of English: $44,000 We offer: Tuition assistance $100 Well-being rewards 13 paid holidays Paid sick leave Paid parental leave Winter break (December Holidays) Responsibilities * Teach 27 academic hours (during the academic year) with some evening, Friday, late afternoon, and online to be expected. Includes preparation and assessment. Teaching load will prioritize the basic course. Standard load is 5/4 at the undergraduate level. 70% * Research, service, and professional development goals agreed upon with Chair of Department of English. 25% * Attend department, school, and college faculty meetings. 5% Required Qualifications * Masters degree in English. * Desire to teach freshman composition, including learning support students. * A primary interest in, and firm commitment to, student-centered teaching. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities * Excellent written and oral communication competencies. * Experience in Banner, Degreeworks, and related platforms. * Collegiality and ability to work in a team. * Graduate level knowledge of English composition.
