*Job Category:*Faculty *Position Title:*Osteopathic Principles and Practices Faculty Position *Unit/Division:*Academic Affairs *Scheduled Hours Per Week:*37.5 *FLSA Status:*Exempt *Job Description Summary:*The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) is seeking a board-certified physician to fill a full-time tenure track position in the Department of Osteopathic Principles and Practices (OPP). The primary job of this faculty position is to provide education in osteopathic principles and practices and assist in providing OPP integration to all phases of the WVSOM predoctoral and postdoctoral curriculum. Duties include participation in the curricular duties of the OPP faculty in training/teaching all four years of osteopathic medical students. Academic responsibilities may include preparing and delivering lectures, instruction in OPP labs, development of test questions, and small-group activities. OMM clinical practice occurs at the Robert C. Byrd Clinic adjacent to the school campus and may include precepting OMM rotation students and OMM resident clinic. The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is an equal opportunity employer. *Minimum Education:*Doctorate *Required Licenses/Certification:*This position requires an earned degree as Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine. Candidate must be board certified. Eligible for a current license to practice osteopathic medicine in the state of West Virginia. Must possess currently unencumbered Drug Enforcement Agency certification. *Duties and Responsibilities:*The balance of academic and clinical responsibilities for this position may vary based on the candidate’s experience and interests; however, a typical distribution is approximately 50% academic and 50% clinical. For candidates interested in expanding their clinical scope, opportunities for hospital and/or nursing home practice may also be available. Academic duties primarily involve teaching first- and second-year medical students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Responsibilities may include delivering lectures, facilitating small group sessions, assisting in clinical and procedural skills labs, and mentoring students, interns, and residents. Engagement in scholarly activities is expected, and institutional support is available for research, including access to research facilities and start-up funding. WVSOM is currently transitioning to a Systems Based Curriculum entitled “Finding Health” in which all disciplines are integrated, employing a variety of formats and modalities including lecture, out-of-class learning, simulations, lab, small group, and Team Based Learning. Team-teaching is routine and the successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively in the delivery of our curriculum. Teaching facilities at WVSOM include a cutting-edge lecture facility, team-based learning room, and a state-of-the-art simulation center. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package including medical malpractice insurance, educational loan reimbursement, and relocation reimbursement. Our ambulatory clinic the Robert C.
