Job Description

BMS Controls Lead Devon (lodge and subsistence paid for people working away from home) An exciting long term opportunity for a BMS Controls Lead has arisen on a large infrastructure project with a tier 1 contractor. On behalf of our client, we are looking for a an experienced BMS Controls Lead to take ownership of Building Management Systems on a large-scale project. This is a key leadership role where you will oversee all aspects of BMS operation, installation, maintenance, and optimisation—ensuring systems run efficiently, securely, and in alignment with our energy and sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities * Lead a team of engineers and technicians delivering both planned and reactive BMS maintenance. * Oversee the operation, installation, and commissioning of BMS systems across diverse sites. * Collaborate with Facilities, Energy Management, and Sustainability teams to drive energy efficiency and carbon reduction. * Provide technical expertise on the design, specification, and commissioning of BMS in new projects and refurbishments. * Analyse system data to identify optimisation opportunities and cost-saving measures. * Manage third-party service providers, ensuring compliance with SLAs and industry standards. * Maintain the security, functionality, and regulatory compliance of all BMS systems. * Keep accurate and detailed records of BMS operations, maintenance, and project work. * Lead fault-finding and diagnostics for complex issues, offering support to the wider engineering team. About You We’re seeking a motivated and technically skilled individual with a passion for building performance and smart controls. You’ll be a proactive leader with the ability to think strategically while managing hands-on operational demands. Essential Skills & Experience * Proven experience in a BMS Controls Manager or Senior BMS Engineer role. * Strong technical knowledge of platforms such as Trend, Siemens, Schneider, Tridium/Niagara, or similar. * Deep understanding of HVAC systems and building services engineering. * Demonstrated experience in energy management and sustainability-led projects. * Excellent leadership and project management abilities. * Competent in interpreting technical documentation including schematics and specifications. * Good knowledge of relevant UK regulations and health & safety standards (e.g. SFG20, CIBSE, ISO standards).
