Candidates must be able to work in an evolving, highly technical field, while employing critical thinking nursing skills. Candidate must possess the ability to evaluate and assess a patient's conditions and provide appropriate care based on their age specific need requirements, serving the adult to geriatric age patient populations. Reports to: Director of Cardiac Services Responsibilities of the Position Performs nursing assessments to gather data and identify patient's needs. Coordinates and communicates patient care needs for discharge planning. Develop and implement an individualized plan of nursing care with the patient and family that will address the patient and family identified needs and concerns. Demonstrates critical thinking skills for problem solving and anticipating patient care needs. Participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve processes and outcomes. May perform point of care testing per CLIA guidelines, based upon completion of initial training with appropriate documentation and ongoing annual competency assessment. Administers Moderate Sedation under direct supervision of a physician Demonstrates ability to function in aspects of cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures to include circulating, monitoring and recording of procedures, and/or scrubbing. Demonstrates ability to work with and operate a variety of technical and specialty equipment including IABP, IVUS, FFR, etc. Ability to operate radiology equipment at appropriate level based on needs and regulations. Demonstrates accountability for ongoing learning needs, completion of annual education requirements and competencies. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations and life-threatening situations appropriately. Flexible to changes in schedule on a daily basis to accommodate needs of patients and physicians. Qualifications: Minimum Education Completed Associate's Degree or Successful completion of an accredited nursing certification program is required. Certifications/Licenses A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 30 days of hire. Required Skills Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience or cardiac catheterization experience and working with hemodynamic waveforms and vaso-active medications is preferred. Ability to read and recognize ECG's and dysrhythmias is required. Required Skills Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
