Job Title: Fitter – Mechanical/Electrical (JOFS) Location: Swindon Salary: Competitive About the Role Join our dynamic team as a Fitter – Mechanical/Electrical and play a crucial role in maintaining the serviceability of the Combat Water Supply System (CWSS), Joint Operational Fuel Systems, and the MoD’s fleet of Aviation Refueller Vehicles. This position involves preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnostic fault finding, inspections, and modifications to drive continuous improvement. You may also have the opportunity to mentor and train apprentices, sharing your expertise to develop the next generation of skilled professionals. Key Responsibilities * Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of the CWSS, Joint Operational Fuel Systems, and Aviation Refueller Vehicles. * Corrective Maintenance: Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation. * Diagnostic Fault Finding: Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues and implement effective solutions. * Inspections and Modifications: Conduct thorough inspections and implement modifications to enhance equipment performance and longevity. * Mentoring and Training: Provide guidance and training to apprentices, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment. * Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in initiatives to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability. * Compliance and Safety: Ensure all activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations and company policies. * Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills * Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ3: A recognised qualification with an electrical bias is essential. * City & Guilds 2391 Level II/III: Certification demonstrating proficiency in electrical installations. * Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills with experience in maintenance of a variety of equipment, including generators and plant equipment. * Positive Attitude: A proactive approach and excellent communication skills are vital for success in this role. * Full UK Driver’s License: Required for operational and site visits.
