This position entails a combination of leading volunteer groups and tasks as well as providing support for events handled by the Advancement Operations Manager and engaging with donors and stakeholders to coordinate in-kind donations and collection drives. This position reports to the Director of Advancement. Lead administrative work that is required for coordination of volunteers, including collecting and tracking all data related to FPWM volunteers. Work Collaboratively with the CAO, VP of Business Development and the Director of Advancement to advance corporate relations and philanthropy via volunteer engagement. Lead and facilitate Monthly Volunteer Orientation as well as ongoing training of FPWM volunteers. Evaluate needs for volunteer engagement and expand volunteer opportunities. Recruit, retain, and recognize FPWM volunteers. Support the Advancement Operations Manager in planning and executing the Hope at Dawn Breakfast, Dreams Dinner, and other Advancement related events. Manage and plan projects such as the Annual Christmas Store, whilst incorporating the FPWM volunteer base. Present on FPWM and programs to community business and organizations through speaking engagements and roundtables. Be a spokesperson and liaison for FPWM. Direct the coordination of off-site projects done by volunteer groups in collaboration with the Programs team, Partners in Housing team, and Facilities team. Update and manage volunteer program material which include: policies and procedures, applications, volunteer agreements, orientation handbooks, etc. Strengthen ongoing relationships and build new relationships with partners as assigned. Engage with donors and stakeholders in various community locations to coordinate in-kind giving and collection drives. Manage, steward, and be responsible for the growth of partnerships for in-kind donations. Serve as the lead liaison to our Family Resource Center within Buck Creek Community Church for all in-kind donations. Our Ideal Candidate will have: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. The ability to manage people and projects. Two years of volunteer coordination. Thorough understanding of non-profit development. Understanding the nuance of building bridges and relationships in the community for FPWM. Excellent relationship management skills and ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds. The ability to work independently, as well as effectively within a team. Be able to work well with colleagues, board members, and volunteers. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) A positive, can-do attitude. Confidence and comfortability with public speaking engagements. Comfortability working in a faith-based environment with congregations and clergy. Commitment to and support of organizational mission, initiatives, and programming. Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Gmail, Google Docs, and other common computer skills/software programs. This position is in-person, with work performed at the Family Promise of West Michigan administrative building in Grand Rapids, as well as other shelter sites, Partners in Housing homes and other community locations. The Volunteer Engagements and Events Manager must be available to work full-time hours, including weekends and after-hours as needed.
