The Crypton brand is nationally recognized and in the midst of extensive growth. Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Product Development Chemist to join our team in Kings Mountain, NC . This role provides hands-on support to the development efforts for a wide variety of Crypton and Nanotex products. End-uses include high-performance upholstery, apparel, bedding, vinyl and leather. Job Description Essential Job Functions New Product Development o Coordinate lab work, verify cost calculations and follow plant trial implementation to develop new products o Design of Experiment – independently develop new sales driven finishes from inception to finished product by modifying existing finishes and proving new ones o Support new product launches o Travel as needed to support job requirements (estimated 10%) Sustainability o Collect and analyze process data and suggest process / product improvements o Research environmentally preferable raw materials Manufacturing Support o Provide technical support to manufacturing / process engineering o Coordinate fabric testing and chemical analysis o Root cause analysis of issues as they arise Required Qualifications and Skills · Minimum Requirements: 10 years’ work experience in chemical or textile processing · A proven work history of innovation and product development. · Must be detail oriented. · Must be able to multitask. · Has a good understanding of organic chemistry, ideally also polymer chemistry. · Good organization skills. · Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. · Familiarity with Analytical and Quality Control processes including FTIR, Extractions, and Solids · Minimum Requirements: B.S. Textile Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Materials Science and Engineering, or Technical Textiles Physical Requirements & Work Environment: · Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally required to team lift and/or move more than 40 pounds. · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work within humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and with fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
