TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Shelby, North Carolina, 28150! Pay Information $1,894 per week About The Position Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This is an opportunity for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma center. It is a teaching hospital with a Certified Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center. The unit comprises 32 beds, with an average census of 28. The patient types and common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder surgery, appendectomies, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, small bowel obstructions, and NG tube management. Patient ratios are 1:4-6 during the day and 1:5-6 at night for RNs, with similar ratios for LPNs. CNAs will have a ratio of 1:10-11 or 1:16, depending on staffing. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, bathing, mobility, turning, and blood sugar monitoring. There is a receptionist to assist with rounds and secretary duties. Charge nurses serve as resources to assist with nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available, with RT and intensivist support provided 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is also available. Technology includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitors. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice, with traveler payment for travel time if floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week, with no call requirements. Travelers will work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, which must be added to the end of the contract if needed. Shift times vary between 0645-1900 and 1845-0700 with a scheduling cycle of every 6 weeks.
