Now Hiring: Sales Manager Location: Cambria Hotel Plano, TX Essential Responsibilities: Solicits, negotiates and generates contracted revenues from prospects that meet the criteria established in the hotel business plan. Employs revenue management techniques to recommend corporate rate proposals. Accurately prepares and presents Requests for Proposals so that both the client and the hotel receive good value. Prospects for new contract business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, attending community functions, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, and reader boards. Ensures that outside sales information is added into SalesPro/Delphi. Develops, implements, and is consistently modifying sales action plans. Manages and maintains an accurate and up-to-date contact management system. Negotiates and closes contracts that meet the hotel business plan objectives. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met. Attends daily business review to internally communicate client requirements thereby ensuring that all information is accurate between client and hotel staff, approved by Director of Sales. Coordinates and participates in target market trade shows and sales blitzes. Conducts competitive analysis and maintains competitor files to be able to compete successfully. Maintains a good rapport with local civic groups and companies. Reports on time to work for scheduled shifts, on time, with professional appearance standards in accordance with company policy. Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties. Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership, management, organizational and communication skills. The ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to deliver results. The ability to work well with, as well as motivate, a variety of personality types and maintain tact and diplomacy throughout all interactions. The ability to multitask and prioritize. Experience with relevant brand-specific PMS. Must have computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc. Can present professionally and persuasively to individuals and groups. Demonstrating sound knowledge of the product and services offered. Has the ability to work independently, demonstrating self-confidence, with energy and enthusiasm always. Developing sales relationships within the community by attending community activities such as Chamber of Commerce activities and Convention and Visitors Bureau activities. Use analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel. Interact with all levels of customers and hotel management. Maintain and further develop a strong network of contacts in the hospitality industry. Ability to stay abreast of market knowledge and adjust strategies as necessary to remain competitive in the market. Promotes teamwork and collaboration, builds positive and strong relationships with leadership and teams. Able to embrace change and create an environment conducive to change. Ability to work under high levels of pressure and under deadlines. Education & Experience: A bachelor’s or associate degree preferred, Hospitality Management degree preferred or relevant experience. 1-2 years prior Sales experience; Hospitality industry experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance is required. Should have reliable transportation for travel to regional locations. Traveling by vehicle or air to various locations, conferences, etc. Hours: Due to the nature of the business, scheduling may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements of the Position: Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists up to 2/3 or most of the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree. May be required to lift in excess of 40 pounds on occasion. Physical Activity of the Position: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. *This is a safety sensitive position that may be subject to additional safety requirements Environmental Conditions: General interior office environment. Minimum distraction primarily from phones and brief interruptions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
