Advert Headteacher Primary (7/10193) (1FTE) Kelloholm Primary School Kirkconnel Roll: 147 plus 45 place Nursery HT06 £73,110 job sized Kelloholm Primary School | Dumfries and Galloway Council Kelloholm Primary School forms part of the Sanquhar Academy cluster. Kelloholm Primary is situated beside the village of Kirkconnel, just off the A76, three miles from Sanquhar, in an area of Dumfries and Galloway known as Upper Nithsdale, close to the Ayrshire border. It is an area with a strong community which is committed to the school. Local industry includes traditional agriculture and forestry, renewable energy and natural and cultural heritage. There are thriving local manufacturing industries. Good housing is very affordable and the area is easy to reach by car from Dumfries (50 minutes) and Ayr (45 minutes). This post offers an exciting opportunity to shape educational provision. The Headteacher is non-class committed and is supported by a full time Principal Teacher and Nursery Manager. The school is part of the Scottish Schools Attainment Programme. The school has strong links with its cluster schools, the local church and local businesses. The school has an active parent council who work to support the pupils and staff. There is fundraising group who organise fund raising events. This supports and enhances the learning provision for pupils. We are seeking to appoint a leader with vision and a passion for learning who will, along with a management team, lead learning at Kelloholm Primary School. Applicants are required to be fully registered in primary education with the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT and be able to demonstrate that they have, through both experience and professional development, met the criteria in the Standard for Headship. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
