Advert Community Payback Officer (13/913) Stewartry and Stranraer £35,535 - £38,031 Criminal Justice Social Work is looking to recruit on a full-time and permanent basis, a Community Payback Officer to cover mid Dumfries and Galloway, including Stranraer,and the Stewartry, to assist in the effective delivery of unpaid work and other activities under the Community Payback Scheme. The Community Payback Scheme delivers unpaid work within the community with people sentenced by the courts to carry out unpaid work and other activities as a requirement of a Community Payback Order. The role of the Community Payback Officer is to provide line management and supervision to a small group of Unpaid Work Supervisors; identify and assess potential projects, prepare projects plans, manage projects being undertaken and manage resources utilised within the scheme including buildings, equipment and vehicles. This role does require some flexibility and if required, assisting with the direct supervision of service users subject to Unpaid Work or potentially weekend working. The successful candidate will be educated to SCQF level 6 (SVQ 3, Highers or equivalent) and an understanding of health and safety as it applies to all aspects of the delivery of the scheme is important. Experience of working in a supervisory capacity is essential, and the successful candidate will be able to evidence effective motivational and performance management techniques. Previous experience of working with individuals within the Justice System would be an advantage, as would a good understanding of the needs of Justice Social Work service users and the ability to work in a non-judgemental manner using pro social modelling skills is also expected. An understanding of the demands of working within a Social Work service will also be beneficial. Advert cont The post will work alongside one other Community Payback Officers who cover the east of the region. This Position will be line managed by the Unpaid Work Senior Social Worker in the West. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
