Job Description
Key Responsibilities Assembly & Production Assemble new batteries with correct layout and polarity. Cut and use packing material to stabilize cells in tanks. Place correct cells in tanks according to machine model. Paint, clean, and mark steel tanks as needed. Perform acid adjustments as required. Ensure all batteries are built within specified timeframes. Maintain a clean and organized workshop. Maintenance & Repairs Deliver and install batteries and chargers on-site. Use a multi-meter to test, fault-find, and diagnose issues. Complete and interpret battery reports accurately. Strip, rebuild, and service Lead Acid/Lithium batteries and chargers. Access, repair, or replace faulty accessories. Safely remove cells wedged in tanks. Perform quality checks once assembly or repair is complete. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OHSACT requirements on both company and client premises. Maintain safe work practices and verify that batteries and chargers are safe to operate. Follow company standards, procedures, and legal regulations. Professional Development Stay updated with industry trends, technology, and training opportunities. Continuously build knowledge and skills to adapt to new equipment and models. Minimum Requirements Education & Qualifications Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (preferred). Qualified Electrician/Electronics Technician (or working towards an electrical/electronic qualification). Trade test certificate (mechanic or electrical). Experience & Skills Working knowledge of batteries, chargers, and electrical systems. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Ability to interpret schematics, diagrams, manuals, and specifications. Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and specialized tools. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English). High attention to detail, accuracy, and service excellence. Ability to work independently, under pressure, and to deadlines. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Additional Requirements Code 8/10 drivers license (essential for field service technicians). Valid forklift operator license (advantageous). Excellent work ethic: reliable, honest, hardworking, and dedicated.
