Chief Engineer - The St. Regis Venice

Job Summary Manages all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant with particular attention to safety, security, and asset protection. Responsible for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Assists in leading the emergency response team for all facility issues. Candidate Profile Education and Experience High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 1 year experience in engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. Core Work Activities Managing Engineering Operations and Budgets Manage the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems. Ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards. Manage and control heat, light, and power; recommend energy conservation methods. Develop specifications for service contracts and oversee their execution. Distribute maintenance work orders and monitor completion quality. Oversee maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, vehicles, and recreational facilities. Develop and oversee long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans. Create project plans for renovations or new construction; supervise contractors to ensure timely, within-budget completion. Build relationships with external entities such as city departments and vendors. Ensure fire safety procedures and equipment are well-understood and maintained. Conduct regular property inspections and guest room assessments to maintain quality standards. Evaluate physical conditions and recommend additional services or replacements as needed. Manage procurement and inventory of parts, equipment, and supplies. Maintaining Property Standards Keep building and equipment licenses and certifications current. Maintain life safety systems such as fire alarms and sprinkler systems. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service Lead with guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent service and creating a positive atmosphere. Review guest feedback and satisfaction data to identify improvement areas. Implement corrective actions to enhance guest experience. Strive for continuous service improvement.
