Advert Fairer Futures (Child Poverty) Economic Development Officer (Fixed Term) Dumfries or Stranraer with region-wide remit £47,622 - £51,321 This is a senior role at the forefront of tackling child poverty in Dumfries and Galloway. Our Employability, Skills and Partnerships service operates across Dumfries and Galloway supporting the delivery of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s strategic priorities. The service directly contributes to and supports the ambitions set out in the Local Outcomes Improvement Plan 2017-2027, the Local Employability and Skills Partnership Delivery Plan 2022-26 and national strategies including the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind and Best Start, Bright Futures. The Economic Development Officer Fairer Futures will lead an ambitious programme of projects that will transform how families are supported across the region. Working collaboratively with local services, communities and national partners, you’ll help shape innovative, place-based approaches that deliver better outcomes for children and families. This work will focus on transforming how services are designed and delivered to families experiencing, or at risk of, poverty. This is a lead managerial role within the Employability, Skills and Partnerships service. We’re looking for a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with the drive to deliver meaningful change. With responsibility for staff, budgets and performance, you’ll ensure high quality, evidence-based delivery, champion service innovation and influence how Dumfries and Galloway contributes to the Scottish Government’s Fairer Futures Programme. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in the successful delivery of relevant programmes, alongside a clear understanding of child poverty policy, programme development, and the wider economic priorities for Dumfries and Galloway. A sound knowledge of Scottish Government policy, particularly in relation to tackling poverty and inequality, is essential. Familiarity with the Scottish Approach to Service Design is also highly desirable. The role requires proven experience in effective partnership working and multi-agency collaboration, with the ability to evidence impact. An understanding of relevant local, regional, and national strategies, delivery frameworks and funding is critical. The post-holder will be central to the delivery of externally funded contracts, including Scottish Government funding. Advert cont A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
