Warehouse Forklift Operator (2nd / 3rd Shift)

Job Description Job Description Position Summary: Responsible for operating industrial equipment and forklift trucks to perform all material handling assignments. Identify and transport material to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, into and out of trailers. Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities: ¨ Performs operation and safety checks on equipment before use. ¨ Follows proper procedures to ensure accurate Bills of Lading and all other required paperwork is complete and accurate prior to shipping items out and prior to receiving items in from external sources. ¨ Familiarizes self with productive capacity of machines or loading schedule of shipping services to ensure prompt delivery of required items to proper destination, so that equipment does not shut down. ¨ Uses snips to open loads, removes strapping and wrapping and safely disposes in designated containers and areas. Places protective materials around load and uses hand or automatic strapping equipment to secure loads for final shipment to customers. ¨ Removes empty skids and stacks skids in designated areas. ¨ Operates safely in assigned areas to pull, load, and move merchandise and all documents specific to each type of merchandise. ¨ Completes cleaning duties at the end of designated shift ¨ Completes safety check on equipment prior to usage including but not limited to battery, brakes, lift controls, and computer. ¨ Moves or lifts up to 75 lbs. ¨ Required to operate labeling equipment when needed ¨ Required to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, etc. ¨ Employees shall follow all GMP & Food safety requirements ¨ Perform other duties as required or directed. ¨ Must be able to meet production standards of quota required. Working Conditions/Environment: Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 40 - 50 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand or sit for an 8 to 10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, bump caps or other head protection, slip-resistant shoes, and gloves may be required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards. Physical Requirements : This position requires good hand/eye coordination and motor functions for computer keyboards, driving forklifts, etc. Position requires a high degree of attention to prevent injuries to others. Qualification Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous job experience as a forklift operator required. Previous experience specifically operating stand up, sit down, and reach forklifts. Experience in the distribution industry a plus. Familiarity with warehouse and/or distribution facility. Team player. Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Basic knowledge of computer functions on a keyboard. Able to read and write in basic English. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferable.
