Job Description

The Disability Support Worker – Mental Health provides person-centred support to individuals living with psychosocial disabilities and/or mental health conditions. This role focuses on empowering participants to live independently, engage with their communities, and achieve their personal goals in line with their NDIS plan. Trauma informed care and great communication skills. Key Responsibilities Provide practical, emotional, and social support to clients with psychosocial disabilities. Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and domestic tasks. Support clients to develop independent living skills and engage in social, recreational, or vocational activities. Assist with implementation of behaviour support strategies and recovery-oriented practices. Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation including progress notes and incident reports. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other health professionals. Support participants to exercise choice and control over their lives in alignment with the NDIS Practice Standards. Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for clients at all times. Adhere to organisational policies, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and relevant legislation Essential Criteria Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or a related field. Understanding of mental health conditions, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain). Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle. Job Type: Casual Pay: $43.00 – $45.00 per hour Work Authorisation: Australia (Required) Work Location: In person
