Pay Information $1,720 per week About The Position A Registered Nurse (RN) in Urgent Care provides fast, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients with non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses that require immediate attention. The RN in this setting works in a fast-paced environment, providing triage, assessment, diagnostic testing, treatment, and follow-up care for a wide range of conditions. This role requires the ability to quickly assess patients, prioritize care, and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate care delivery. Key Responsibilities : Patient Assessment and Triage : Conduct initial assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and presenting symptoms. Perform triage based on the severity of the condition to determine the urgency of care, ensuring the most critical patients are prioritized. Document all patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system, including assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and responses to care. Provide Treatment and Care : Administer medications as prescribed, including pain management, antibiotics, and other treatments. Assist with minor medical procedures such as wound care, suturing, splinting, or minor surgical interventions under the guidance of a physician. Perform diagnostic tests, such as blood draws, EKGs, and urinalysis, and interpret results. Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond to emergencies or complications, including managing shock, respiratory distress, or allergic reactions. Patient Education : Provide education to patients and families on injury or illness management, medication use, home care, and preventive measures. Explain discharge instructions clearly, ensuring that patients understand follow-up care, medication regimens, and when to seek further medical attention. Teach patients about lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise, and stress management, that may aid in preventing future health issues. Collaboration with Healthcare Team : Work closely with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. Assist in the development and execution of care plans for patients, ensuring appropriate treatments and follow-up. Communicate with patients, families, and team members to provide updates on patient conditions and treatment progress. Emergency and Crisis Management : Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, such as chest pain, asthma attacks, allergic reactions, or trauma. Provide life-saving interventions as needed, including CPR, wound management, and stabilization of patients in critical conditions. Prepare for and respond to a variety of urgent care situations, including traumatic injuries, infections, and exacerbations of chronic conditions. Infection Control and Safety : Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including the proper handling of infectious materials, PPE usage, and sterilization procedures. Ensure that the urgent care setting is safe and well-organized, reducing the risk of accidents or infections. Monitor for and report any issues related to patient safety, including medication errors or potential safety hazards in the facility. Documentation and Record-Keeping : Ensure all patient interactions, treatments, and assessments are accurately documented in the EHR system. Maintain accurate records of patient progress, test results, and changes in condition to ensure continuity of care. Comply with healthcare regulations and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) regarding patient information and confidentiality. Administrative Duties : Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling follow-up appointments, arranging referrals, and ensuring insurance documentation is complete. Coordinate with pharmacies, specialists, or other providers to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
