Job Summary The School of Education at Dalton State College seeks applications for tenure-track Associate or full Professor of Classical Education & Alternative Educational Philosophies position beginning January 1. 2025 or August 1, 2026. The start date is negotiable. Candidates focus in teaching will be alternative educational philosophies/methods to include, but are not limited to: Classical Education, Dual Language Immersion, and the Finnish Model. Faculty may also be tasked with teaching general education or freshmen experience courses. Candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate-level courses in a variety of topics. Currently, the College is seeking approval to offer a limited number of graduate programs. If the College receives approval, the School of Education will submit for approval of an MEd/MAT. Candidates must be prepared to teach graduate courses in alternative educational philosophies/methods to minimally include Classical Education. Preferred candidates will be able to teach and research in each of the alternative philosophies / pedagogies listed. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. This position will include limited funding for extra resources for functions supported by the position. The rank (associate/full) professor is commensurate with educational background, expertise, and experience in higher education. Review of the applications will begin October 24, 2025. Official transcripts will be required upon employment. Required Qualifications -Earned PhD/EdD in Education or related field. -Demonstrated expertise and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following: Dual Immersion, Classical Education, or Finnish Education Systems. -Proven experience in curriculum development across K-12 or higher education settings. -Evidence of successful teaching in post-secondary (college or university) environments. Preferred Qualifications -Demonstrated scholarly productivity. -Experience teaching at the Master¿s level with the ability to design and deliver graduate level coursework. -A strong commitment to collaboration with public schools (including charter schools) and colleagues. -Teaching experience in charter schools. -Experience with development and/or management of charter schools Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities -Demonstrated ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms. -Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and use applied learning approaches. -Support the DSC Vision, Mission and Values and foster an environment of diversity in culture, thought and experience. -All candidates for faculty position should be able to demonstrate the ability to educate and empower the DSC student population successfully. -Knowledge of and experience with integrating technology in teacher education. -Ability to engage with Master¿s level scholarship and research. -Expertise in curriculum development at the higher education level and/or PK-12 level. -Ability to work with school partners to promote alternative methods of education. -Ability to conduct research in alternative philosophies/pedagogies consistent with a Graduate School faculty member. -Completes and submits progress reports to the dean, Foundation, or others as needed.
