Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant Profession: Certified Medical Assistant Specialty: Clinic Duration: Full-Time Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 56 Hours Per 2 Week Pay Period Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting - Required License: Current BLS Certification - Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization Passed x-ray operator examination or willing to take exam according to clinic needs Description: The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic. The Medical Assistant will assist providers in the management and treatment of customers. Customers come from various backgrounds and age groups requiring individualized care. The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative and delegated tasks as described in the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider. The Medical Assistant will receive direction and collaborate with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers. Communication with the healthcare team regarding customer progress, concerns, questions, or problems is essential. Clinical Care: The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with the management of customer flow. Tasks include standard rooming processes, providing immunizations, injections, and medications as directed by the provider. Laboratory specimen collection may also be performed as needed. Depending on the specialty and clinic location, the Medical Assistant may provide telephone support and facilitate communication between customers and providers. Assistance with prescription refills and clinic laboratory tests may be required. Clinic Support: The Medical Assistant may provide support to the clinic by assisting with front desk/check-in support. Responsibilities may include ordering and stocking supplies, and assistance with prior authorizations. The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the Medical Assistant scope of practice. The team member is responsible for maintaining skill proficiency and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate skills list. Additional duties may be assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals. The Medical Assistant takes direction from the Physician, Provider, Registered Nurse, Clinic Supervisor, and Clinic Manager. Compliance: The Medical Assistant must understand and follow principles and standards outlined in the Corporate Code of Conduct. The team member must protect customer and team member privacy and only access related information as needed to perform job duties. Reporting violations or areas of concern to the supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer is required. Recognizing and complying with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to responsibilities is essential.
