Senior Estimator

We are working with a highly reputable and financially stable groundwork’s and RC frame contractor based near Gatwick , with an impressive annual turnover of £150m . Known for their professional operation and high-quality delivery, they work on a range of projects beyond traditional residential developments — partnering with leading contractors such as McLaren on large-scale commercial projects including schools, hotels, and warehouses . About the role of Senior Estimator This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator with a background in groundworks and RC frame projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates from first principles , producing your own Bills of Quantities (BoQs) , and supporting the pre-construction team in securing and pricing complex civil and structural packages. This role is office-based and available on a permanent basis with a generous salary and benefits package , or alternatively on a freelance day rate (outside IR35) for Limited Company candidates. Responsibilities for Senior Estimator: Prepare detailed cost estimates for groundworks and RC frame packages from first principles. Produce and manage Bills of Quantities (BoQs) . Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate pricing strategies. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing. Support the bid and pre-construction team with technical and commercial input. Provide cost advice and risk assessment to senior management. Maintain accurate records of tender submissions and outcomes. Requirements for Senior Estimator: Proven experience in estimating for groundworks and reinforced concrete frame projects . Strong ability to price from first principles and prepare BoQs independently. Excellent knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and industry standards. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
