Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Start Date: October 27, 2025 End Date: January 17, 2026 Duration: 12-week travel contract Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts) Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130-$2190 Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois RN license in good standing Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN or in acute care nursing Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred BLS certification (American Heart Association) – required for all healthcare jobs Trauma 1 experience (must be documented by previous facility) EPIC electronic medical record experience Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and independent judgment skills Excellent communication and multicultural sensitivity Basic computer proficiency Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit using the nursing process Conduct initial patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and adjust plans as needed Monitor and assess IV sites every 4 hours; initiate new IVs per hospital policy Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and unit standards Identify and respond to changes in patient condition promptly Promote patient and staff safety by reporting and addressing safety concerns Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities Meet all departmental competencies and maintain required documentation Join our healthcare team in Urbana, Illinois, and take the next step in your travel nursing career.
